Defining the State of the Art in Design and Deployment
In the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, when other document management vendors used complex API’s and charged clients for each new database table supported, Mindwrap reasoned that a new approach was needed – one that would quickly define and create new tables while also defining the graphical user interface to the database for both Windows and Mac OS users.
Mindwrap’s response to this challenge was the creation of our Optix Application Generator technology, providing even non-technical system administrators the tools to quickly define new graphical indexing and query screens, business automation workflows, and the security settings for both. When uploaded to an Optix Server, the database tables that powered the design were automatically created– no DBA required.
This was an amazing leap in technology for the time and we have steadily improved this vital tool ever since, making it even easier to rapidly design and deploy the applications and automation you need to meet the requirements of your enterprise. Today, our Optix Application Generator – provided for both Windows and Mac OS X with each Optix system purchase – boasts non-proprietary XML-based screen and workflow definition files, cross-platform drag-and-drop design, full support for master-detail relationships, powerful security and customization features, and single-click deployment. And that’s just for starters.
Fine-tune the properties of the fields in your application. You have full control over the field size, use of uppercase-lowercase and the title of the field as it appears to the user. You can even select automatic create and update field presets using the current date and time, username, and many others. Populate dropdown menus using constants or specified field values from legacy database tables. Specify exactly what your users will see by specifying the font, size, style, and color of the field title text. Add corporate logos, lines, and other graphical elements to create exactly the appearance you want. Our competitors wish they had this stuff, and there is a lot more. There is so much awesomeness built into this application that we have a separate page just to talk about the workflow design capabilities, which you can read about here.

Once uploaded to our Optix Server, the tables your design requires are automatically created to power your awesome new application. Because our end-user Windows, Macintosh, and Web-based apps all understand how to interpret the XML-based definition file, your new application is immediately available to all authorized users on desktops as well as laptops, tablets and smartphones. No coding, no archaic API’s to learn, no extra vendor costs to build the system you need. That sounds pretty amazing, doesn’t it?
