Corporate Biographies

Craig Landrum, Chief Technology Officer, co-founded Mindwrap (Blueridge Technologies) with James Small in 1988 and brings more than 35 years of extensive programming, software development and system integration experience. Landrum joined Planning Research Corporation (PRC) after serving more than 7 years in the Army Security Agency as a cryptanalyst with decorated service in Southeast Asia and at NSA in Fort Meade, Maryland. During the pioneer years of document imaging and scanning in the late 70’s Landrum headed the microprocessor firmware development team that built custom systems for early imaging technology adopters such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield. In the early 80’s as a Computer Systems Scientist, Landrum headed the development of the Backfile Image Capture System for the U.S. Patent and Trademark office which scanned more than 32 terabytes of patent image data. For Mindwrap, Landrum develops Optix workstation and server code, low-level scanner drivers, and tracks industry trends.
James A. Small, President, co-founded Mindwrap (Blueridge Technologies) with Craig Landrum in 1988, and leads the architectural design for the Optix product line. Small brings 33 years of programming, software and system integration experience to Mindwrap. His many product contributions include co-developing the original Pixel Perfect workstation on Macintosh; creating the Cygnet jukebox drivers for IMIX document management system and file repository; and contributing to the architecture of Optix 5 server which helped change the product focus from document imaging to document management. Small attended the University of Florida, earning a B.S. in Mathematics.
Thom Vagt, Vice President, Sales, has been in the high tech industry for over 25 years. Starting out on mainframes as a DBA responsible for statistical information reported by the airline industry, he moved to sales when he joined Planning Research Corporation and has been a top producer ever since. His technical background has provided him with a unique ability to understand customer problems and deliver targeted solutions. Vagt spent six years with Mindwrap before taking a 3-year sabbatical and has recently re-joined the team to head up the sales group. His in-depth knowledge of the Optix product suite as well as all aspects of the Document Management and Workflow industry make him perfectly suited to lead Mindwrap’s sales efforts. Thom is a New York native and graduate of Fordham University.
